The 2nd annual Oklahoma Native All State Basketball games will be held on June 17, 2017. Bacone College in Muskogee will serve as the host site for this year’s games. The Oklahoma Native All State organization will take nominations for the boys and girls ONAS basketball games until April 1. Players must be nominated by their high school coach, must be a 2017 graduate, and must have a CDIB card (proof of Native descent). In order for a player to be nominated, ONAS has to have a completed nomination form submitted no later than April 1. The single page form must be submitted by email to oknativeallstate@gmail.com or faxed to ONAS basketball at 405-247-3946. Selection committees made up of Native American coaches will select 20 boys and 20 girls to be named to the 2017 ONAS basketball teams. The athletes selected will then be notified and receive a player packet containing all information related to participation in the event. We will not need a copy of the athletes CDIB card unless they are selected. The athletes selected to the teams will be notified by phone so please make sure all numbers provided are correct. The athletes selected will be divided evenly into 10 player teams for the games held on June 17. We hope to recognize the top Native American student athletes in Oklahoma from the 2017 graduating class. Last year, in our inaugural event, we had a very successful 2 day event and we plan on this year’s games being even better. Over the past year the ONAS organization has grown, and in addition to basketball, we have added baseball and softball to this year’s games which will be played on the same day. If you are a Native American coach and would like to serve on the selection committee for boys or girls basketball, please indicate in the space provided on the nomination form. Last year’s coaches all had athletes playing in the games. Boys’ coaches were Norm Tippeconnie of Perkins-Tryon and Patrick Moore of Riverside. The girls’ coaches were Chad Tsotigh of Pawnee and Rikki Wolfe of Sasakwa. Should you have any questions please call: Girls Basketball- Josh Nichols, Womens Basketball Coach, Bacone College 918-360-8619 Boys Basketball- Patrick Moore, Boys Basketball Coach, Riverside Indian School 405-933-1710 Thank you, Oklahoma Native All State Basketball Committee
