Basketball season has come and gone again. It was a very exciting year with a lot of ups and downs. Spring is here and it is time to recharge and prepare ourselves for the coming summer and next season. June will be full of all kinds of hoops activities with camps and summer leagues. I am looking very forward to spending some quality time with my family and hope you do the same!

Congratulations to all of the state tournament qualifiers and the state champion coaches! What a great accomplishment! I look forward every year to the great games and watching kids compete at such a high level. There is nothing like going to the Big House to watch games. It is a weekend my sons and myself look forward to every year!

Looking forward, don’t forget about the OBCA All-Star weekend on June 10th and 11th. It is always a great weekend in conjunction with the Faith 7 game. The Hall of Fame banquet on Friday night is always special and a time of listening to and honoring coaches who helped make basketball great in the state of Oklahoma. Make plans to attend if you can. You won’t be sorry. All of the rosters and gametimes will be available on the website at oklahomabasketballcoaches.com. Please be sure and thank Coach Tolin for hosting this game, he and Kyle always do a great job with it.

Be sure to make plans to attend the summer clinic in Tulsa as well. The dates this year are July 24-29. Come by the OBCA booth and talk some basketball when you aren’t listening to speakers. I hope you all have a great summer! See you at the games.

I would like to start off by thanking everyone for giving me the opportunity to serve as the President of our great organization. It is a tremendous honor and I look forward to the next year. I hope this note finds everyone doing well on this push to the playoffs! What a hectic time of year! We practice all fall in anticipation of games that seem to take forever to get here. Now in January, it seems we desperately need to practice and all we do is play games!  Even if your team has struggled like mine, there is always the anticipation that we can put it together to make that run to the state tournament. Coaches please don’t forget that you must be a member to nominate your players for any post-season awards. You can join on the website at http://www.okbasketballcoaches.com

The coaches victory award forms and all nomination forms are available on the website along with assistant coach of the year and junior high coach of the year forms. Last but not least, don’t forget to nominate people in your community for the “friend of basketball” in each district. I know there are a lot of people out there who help our programs and it would mean a lot to many of them to be recognized for their support. I hope all of your players stay healthy and most of your shots go in as you start your playoff run! Good luck –  Bryan Jennings
