Fall 2008 Press Breaker
Another summer has come and gone and we’re back in the swing of things at school. The summer seems to go by all too fast. My hope is that everyone got away sometime during the summer and recharged their batteries for another school year.

October is my favorite month of the year. Football is in full swing, the weather is getting cooler, the Fall Clinic is here and basketball season is just around the corner. Basketball coaches are busy planning scrimmages and looking forward to beginning practice. It will be hard to top the excitement from last season. But somewhere out there is the next Keiton Page and Rotnie Clark that will soon be lighting up scoreboards across the state.

Jeff Capel (OU) and Travis Ford (OSU) are scheduled to speak at this year’s Fall Clinic. The Clinic will be at OBU on October 16 at 9:00 am. This will be a great time to get together, talk basketball and hear some great speakers.

This year, coaches will have the opportunity to help raise money for cancer research with the Coaches vs. Cancer program. A presentation was made by Lesa Foster at the summer clinic of ways to raise money. Cancer seems to affect all of us directly or indirectly. David Day from Prague can answer questions you may have concerning the program. Hopefully everyone can make a contribution and help make a difference.

We will be doing the rankings again this year through OK Rankings. Some of the problems from last year have been fixed. We still need to be involved and rank the best teams accordingly. As I stated in an earlier article, “let’s not mess this up.”

As I wrap this up, I’d like to say it’s been a privilege to serve as your president this past year. The OBCA is a great organization and getting better all the time. The opportunity to be president has been one of the greatest honors of my coaching career. Thank you for allowing me to serve.

See you at the clinic,
Kirk Graham
OBCA President
