Class 2A gets upset win over 3A squad

Large Red 76, Large Grey 67

A huge fourth quarter was the difference as the Red squad of Class 4A, 5A and 6A All Stars outscored their Grey squad counterparts 23-10 in the frame.

Second chance points were critical in the Red comeback as they capitalized on 16 offensive rebounds with a massive 19-4 scoring advantage on putbacks. They also sank 49 percent in the second half from the field on 19 of 39.

The Red also displayed great balance throughout with Westmoore’s Matthew Mobley and Byng’s Nathan Turtle leading the charge with 12 and 11 points respectively.

Austin King of Harrah sparked the early Grey charge with 17 points on eight of 11 shooting from the field.

Class 2A 80, Class 3A 78

The Class 2A All Stars rode an early lead and four players in double figures to a thrilling 80-78 victory.

Offensive rebounds were the key for the Class 2A squad, which pulled down a phenomenal 31 offensive boards, cashing in with 26 second chance points. Despite being at a size disadvantage overall, Tushka’s Tyson Finch and Luther’s Taylor Shook did most of the inside damage, combining for 17 boards, including nine offensively.

Chisholm grad Tyler Simmons canned eight of 13 field goal tries to finish with a team-high 19 points for the Class 2A. Talihina’s David Powell contributed 11 while Shook and Chace Green from Pawnee chipped in 10 apiece.

Mike Soap nearly rallied the 3A stars all the way back, notching a game-high 20 points on nine of 15 shooting, including a pair of three-pointers. The seven-foot Heritage Hall duo of P.J. Roberson and Cort Hoge combined for 27 points inside.

Class A 72, Class B 62

After trailing 35-28 at intermission, the Class A All-Stars exploded for 27 points in the third quarter to rally past the Class B squad.

Sizzling field goal shooting was the story for the A Stars as they connected on 59 percent from the field after the break while the Class B hit only 29 percent on 10 of 35 shootings.

Garber’s Cody Bond led all scorers with 15 points, sinking six of his 10 tries from the field, while adding four rebounds. Howe’s Kyle Tucker and Ripley’s Brett Tilley also hit double figures with 10 points apiece.

The Class B team had sensational balance but no player reached double figures. Eric Garza, Tanner McElhaney, Nick Cash and Jonathan Allen totaled eight each.
